Artist Spotlight - Thrush Holmes

Thrush Holmes
Contemporary Artist
Thrush Byron Keats Holmes is a self-taught artist who lives and works in Toronto, Canada. Holmes is entirely self-taught outside two weeks in art school - where he quit after being told he couldn’t fast-track to his final year
Art with Attitude
Holmes's work brings its own aggressively contemporary attitude, contrasting romantic neon tropes with a rock & roll sensibility. His styles play with classic grunge-Americana symbolism, showcasing neon pin-up silhouettes, desert landscapes, traditional skulls & wire-frame muscle cars.

Hunter S-Esque
It really has this Hunter S Thompson narrative, I feel like i'm going 120 through a dusty Vegas highway with a cigarette hanging out of my mouth". The feeling of immersion is not uncommon - for Holmes’ 20-ft paintings are standard, and often done in a single session.
Signed “TH”
Often large enough in the bottom corner of the work to be considered a compositional element, Thrush signs each piece with the signature "TH"
Over the years, Holmes has found his work new homes in some impressive permanent collections worldwide including Elton John Aids Foundation, Sony Music, Dream works Studios, Def Jam Recording Studios, Google offices, and many more. These days Holmes can be found in the studio creating new original works with his wing-man Fast Mike. Catch their hilarious antics and creative process over on his Instagram. @thrush_holmes
