Jason REVOK - loop_painting_hollow_1

Jason Revok - Painter
One of REVOK's long-time influences is Frank Stella, whose Black Series of the late 1960s are a clear inspiration for the Tape Loop Paintings which this upcoming edition based upon. Stella’s focus on perfection and geometry desintegrates with this collection, demonstrating the erosion of postmodern practice that has happened over time. Radical then, the starkness and precision of minimalistic art can seem dated and cold; REVOK introduces gestural glitches that disrupt these exacting patterns, reminding us that there is always a human being behind the work. The edition with Louis Buhl demonstrates progression since the inception of the Tape Loop Paintings, featuring a gradient background in red and orange and hollow center.
